CURRICULUM

We want your children to:

  • have strong social skills, help them learn about making friends
  • encourage independence, being able to cope emotionally with being separated from their parents
  • be relatively independent in their own personal care
  • have a curiosity about the world and a desire to learn
  • help them to recognise their name
  • develop speaking and listening skills

The aim of our curriculum is to equip children with the skills and knowledge they need to explore and understand the world around them.

We believe that children grow and develop when they have access to a well thought out learning environment and engaged adults.

The teaching and learning of new skills and knowledge is delivered through ITMP with both adult and child led opportunities both indoors and outdoors.

We focus on the importance of knowledge and skills that will support children in every way possible so that they can make the most of opportunities and fulfil their potential along with promoting their independence.

Children are learning skills, acquiring new knowledge and demonstrating understanding through 7 areas of learning and development.

Children should mostly develop the 3 prime areas first:

    1.    Communication and language
    2.    Physical development
    3.    Personal, social and emotional development

These prime areas are those most essential for healthy development and future learning.

As children grow, the prime areas will help them to develop skills in 4 specific areas.

These being:

    1.    Literacy
    2.    Mathematics
    3.    Understanding the world
    4.    Expressive arts and design
